The Adventure Capital Fund (ACF) has appointed Jonathan Lewis, director of ITV Digital Channels, as its new chief executive.

With an impressive track record in the media, Jonathan will be responsible for overseeing the ACF’s strategy to increase its investment in community enterprises tenfold by 2011.

Jonathan, who will take up the position in September 2007, is currently responsible for running ITV’s digital TV channels. Previous positions include director of channel strategy for Granada Television and head of channel strategy for MTV Europe.

He has been widely credited for driving the turn around of ITV’s digital channels – today the strongest commercial portfolio of channels in the UK. ITV2 is now the largest non-terrestrial channel in the UK with ITV3 and 4 both top ten channels.

It was this experience in establishing highly successful organisations that convinced the ACF board they had found the right person.

Stephen Bubb, Chair of ACF, said: “His turnaround work at ITV and MTV has been greatly impressive. When we met Jonathan we quickly saw this was both a dynamic person with fantastic commercial skills, but also someone with a genuine commitment to social change.”

Commenting on his appointment, Jonathan said: “The ACF has so much potential. I am delighted to have got the job and am very excited at having the chance to run an organisation that will make a substantial and ever increasing difference to communities.”

As announced earlier in the year, Sue Peters, the current chief executive, has been made managing director of investments where she will be responsible for the management of investments made to voluntary and community organisations looking to develop sustainable sources of income.
