What happens to your application to the Main Investment Fund?

We look at applications on a rolling basis.

Once you’ve submitted your application to us we will do two things:

  1. check that you meet our criteria.

  2. assess your proposal.

If we think that we might be able to invest, we’ll begin the Investment Pathway, a formal assessment process which will include visiting you, testing your ideas and looking at your whole organisation. You may need to refine your plans or submit extra information, but we’ll help you do this. The final stage of this process is a presentation to our investment committee – if you get this far we’ll help you prepare for it.

All Main Investment Fund decisions are made by an investment committee (whose members are drawn from our board of trustees) which meets up to ten times a year.

We expect to receive more applications than we can support, and regrettably, there will be organisations that we cannot help. In this case, we will endeavour to let you know as soon as possible and may be able to direct you to other means of help.

If we think you have potential but are not yet investment ready, we may contact you to discuss some early stage support. We may be able to provide a Business Development Grant to help you to become investment ready.
